2013 Lincoln David Nelson Basketball Cup Game 3 Recap: Team C squanders the lead as Team A overtakes them for the win, 70-55
For the men of BBH Team C, the way this game followed a familiar script: Strong play early and having the lead, only to lose steam and get blown away in the end.
Team C jumped out to an early lead behind the solid contributions from their starters and the early absence of several of Team A’s key players. They would carry that lead into the fourth quarter but would find it hard to score from then on, losing by 15 points at the buzzer, 70-55.
Once again, the dynamic duo of Joel Go and James Lee Salahag led the way for Team A as they tallied 24 points, 8 rebounds & 6 assists for Go, and 17 points, 7 rebounds & 5 assists for Salahag. Frederick “Toto” Beniag filled up the box score with 7 points, 5 rebounds & 4 assists. Jeriel Brent “Ading” Agne’s 6 steals led the defense for Team A aside from his contributions of 15 points to the cause. Pastor Angelo Esto was timely with his 5 points, 5 assists & 4 steals as he only played in the 4th quarter as a late arrival, sparking his team to the win with his fresh energy.
For Team C, Piniel Yambagon put up another double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds as he again carried the load for his team, playing the entire game without rest. Louel Binahon chipped in with 12 points to go along with his 5 rebounds and team-high 3 steals. Pastor Jess Mendoza added 9 points of his own.
Team C had a small lead at the beginning of the 4th quarter but the lack of bench play and the depth of their opponents found them unable to match the pace as they found themselves outscored in the deciding period.
Final Score: 70-55

Team BBH C, 55: Yambagon, 24; Binahon, 12; Mendoza, 9; Robeniol, 4; Solomon, 4; Panganiban, 2.
